6-12-70 Pirates pitcher Doc Ellis throws the first no hitter against the Padres winning 2-0 in the first game of a double header. Wille Stargell accounts for both Pirate runs by hitting two solo home runs. Ellis walked 8 and later claimed to be under the influence of LSD during the game. At one time during the game he thought the home plate umpire was Richard Nixon and another time during the game thought the batter was Jimi Hendrix swinging a guitar.
Padres won the second game 5-2
