Save the New York Penn League

Whether it’s Opening Day, injury rehab assignments, an in-season exhibition, or just a random regular season game, minor league baseball supplies thrills galore for 160 local communities. These are communities not generally served by MLB baseball. It’s already hard saying goodbye to 42 teams, but to entire leagues? That’s doubly hard to swallow. Nothing has been finalized, but the Short Season A circuits appear to be doomed. A few NY Penn League members will shuffle to a new Single A league. And at least one team will become an Eastern League member.
