Pierre Turgeon records his 50th goal of the season to beat the Rangers in overtime.

According to the New York Post, "On April 2, 1993, the Islanders were one point ahead of the Rangers for the Patrick Division's final playoff spot with nine games remaining for each club. When Pierre Turgeon scored the 3-2 OT winner at the Garden – no consolation points for losing in those days – the Rangers were essentially done, having lost four straight on their way to dropping 11 of their final 12 and missing the playoffs while the Islanders were on their way to the conference finals."
